In the footsteps of the Pope St. John Paul II. Kraków – Wadowice – Zakopane – Wieliczka.
Day 1.
Arrival at Kraków Airport. Transfer from the airport and checking-in at the hotel. Sightseeing in the city of Kraków following the history of the Pope St. John Paul II. Landmarks and sites to see: St Mary’s Basilica, where The Pope was a preacher and a confessor in 1952-1958. Basilica of St Francis of Assisi, former Solvay Soda Works, St Florian's Church, the Main Square. Next, the famous Franciszkańska Street with Palace of Kraków Bishops where you can see the ‘Papal window’. Rakowicki Cemetery, a place of the Pope’s parents burial. Free time, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2.
Breakfast and departure to Wadowice. Visiting the Family Home of the Holy Father St. John Paul II Museum. Going to the parochial church – the Virgin Mary's Offertory Minor Basilica – the christening place of Karol Wojtyła, the Pope. Departure to the nearby Monastery complex in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska (UNESCO). Free time. Return to Kraków, dinner. For the interested: going out in the evening to the Market Square of Kraków, free time, overnight stay.
Day 3.
Breakfast and departure to Zakopane. Visiting The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima. In its treasury there had been gathered many precious mementoes of the Pope, such as his prayer book, rosaries, his mitre in which he performed the liturgy here in 1997. There is also the Papal throne from that very liturgy, his pallium, the Carmelite scapular and the Easter palm, with which the Holy Father blessed the faithful during the Palm Sunday on the 20th of March in 2005. Taking the funicular to go up Gubałówka Hill. On the top of the hill, time to admire astonishing panorama of Tatra Mountains. Going downhill. Return to Kraków, dinner, free time and overnight stay.
Day 4.
Breakfast and checking-out of the hotel. Departure to Wieliczka and a tour of the Salt Mine following the steps of St. John Paul II. In the St. Kinga Chapel, 101 metres under the ground, there is the Polish Pope statue. Return to Kraków, transfer to the airport and check-in for the departure flight.
