Kayaking down the Czarna Hańcza river trail (7 days)
The most beautiful (easy) trail in Europe.
Day 1.
Arrival at Warsaw and a welcome dinner. Transfer to Augustów to the hotel located among the lakes, check-in and an overnight stay.
Day 2.
Departure to Wigry, a small village in The Wigry National Park. Visiting the 17th century Camaldolese Monastery, a hermitage, visited in 1999 by the Pope John Paul II. A walk around the monastery complex, entering the Papal apartments and the church’s catacombs. Lunch. Wigry-Wysoki Most (15km) the beginning of the Czarna Hańcza kayaking trip. A very picturesque part of the river surrounded by high reeds inhabited by numerous species of wild waterfowl. Lunch, accommodation and dinner by the bonfire.
Day 3. Wysoki Most – Frącki
Wild and attractive part of the kayaking route. Accommodation in the Frącki village. Lunch. In the evening there is time for sauna in traditional Russian banyas and bathing in the river. Dinner.
Day 4. Frącki – Jałowy Róg.
Kayaking down the most beautiful part of the Czarna Hańcza river, with high, eroded banks, overgrown with the pine and spruce primeval forest and old oaks. Lunch break and an overnight accommodation in the village of Jałowy Róg. Dinner.
Day 5. Jałowy Róg – Płaska.
The route runs through the Augustów Forest and Augustów Canal - a marvel of the 19th century technology and a great tourist attraction of this trail. On the way there are several canal locks on the river: Sosnówek, Mikaszówka, Perkuć, Paniewo (the only twin-chamber-lock one). Overnight accommodation and regional dinner with traditional dishes.
Day 6. Płaska – Augustów.
The last part of the kayaking route runs through the Augustów Canal as well as some small and big lakes. An overnight stay and farewell dinner at the hotel in Augustów.
Day 7. Arrival at Warsaw -the Poland’s capital.
If there is still some time left, the possibility to spend it at the Old Town of Warsaw. Transfer to the airport.
