Polish Cuisine (7 days)
While staying in the beautiful areas of Poland, you have the opportunity to discover an exquisite cuisine of this European region, served in various historic places. You will not only be amazed and fascinated by the architecture of aristocratic , prince’s and royal residences, but you will also find out what are ‘oscypek’ or ‘bryndza’. You wiil taste ‘żętyca’ (drunk by Fryderyk Chopin, having lungs illness ),‘kwaśnica’ and ‘żurek krakowski’. You will get the chance to try the ‘lisiecka’ sausage – favourite cold meat of John Paul II - and famous ‘kremówki’ from Wadowice, his favourite cakes. You will eat "obwarzanki" (braided bagels) from Kraków and bread from Prądnik , which recipe has not changed since 500 years. It will also be unforgettable to try the well known for centuries ‘balsam kapucyński’ and Old Polish kinds of honey. The tastes of Poland – worth trying out!
Day 1.
Arrival at Wrocław. Transfer from the airport and checking-in at the luxury hotel in the Kliczków Castle, dating back to year 1297. The castle hosted the emperor Wilhelm II. Visiting the Czocha Castle in Leśna, built in the second half of the 13th century, located over the picturesque rock tip by the Kwisa river. In the evening: a ceremonial dinner at Kliczków Castle. (Recommended dish: saddle of a deer in plum vodka ‘śliwowica’)
Day 2.
Arrival at Krasków and accommodation in a luxury hotel at Krasków Castle, a medieval residence, rebuilt after the Thirty Years War into a pearl of Baroque architecture. Visiting an impressive and splendorous Książ Castle, built at the end of 13th century and rebuilt many times. At the end of the 19th century, the castle belonged to one of the wealthiest European families - The Hochberg family. In the evening: dinner at Krasków Castle. (Recommended dishes: delicacies and beverages of the regional Polish cuisine)
Day 3.
Arrival and accommodation at the hotel in Prężyce Castle, a neo-Gothic building from the 19th century. Sightseeing in Wrocław. In the evening: dinner at Świdnicka Cellars in Wrocław, the oldest restaurant in Europe, functioning since 1273. (Recommended dishes: porcini mushroom soup with grated noodles)
Day 4.
Arrival at Promnice Small Castle, a Hunting Lodge, built in 1868 in the neo-Gothic style, with wattle and daub elements of construction. This residence was visited by the most eminent guests of the Hochberg family. On the way, sightseeing of Pszczyna Castle, with an extensive interior furnishings preserved.
In the evening: dinner at Promnice Small Castle (Recommended dishes of Silesian cuisine).
Day 5.
Arrival at the hotel in Korzkwia Castle, a 16thcentury knights’ stronghold. Visiting a Renaissance Castle in Pieskowa Skała, an important link in a system of fortification, protecting the trade routes in the region between Kraków and Silesia. This castle is located on the well known ‘Trail of the Eagle's Nests’. In the evening: dinner at the castle combined with the folk music group performances of temperamental songs and dances of various Polish regions. (Recommended dishes: Old Polish cuisine).
Day 6.
Sightseeing in Kraków – the former capital of Poland and the seat of kings, visiting Wawel Royal Castle. In the evening: a truly royal dinner in the Kraków’s restaurant ‘Wierzynek’. The restaurant drives its inspirations from the famous feast held in the year 1364 by Mikołaj Wierzynek, a merchant from Kraków. The feast gathered the greatest European emperors of that time. (Recommended dishes: duck’s liver with a flambéed apple and mead sauce)
Day 7.
Arrival at Zakopane. A walk along Krupówki Street – the most popular boardwalk of the city. An excursion to the Tatra National Park along the valley of your choice. In the evening: dinner at the traditional highland tavern with the live folk music. (recommended dishes: local specialities e.g. ‘oscypek’ cheese, served hot with cranberry and strong beverages)
Day 8.
Transfer from Zakopane to Kraków Airport.
